Robotic Assisted level 3 IVC thrombectomy is challenging procedure to perform, requiring skillful and experienced robotic surgeon with multidisciplinary team. We are demonstrating 2 videos of it.
First video IVC thrombectomy was performed with supra-hepatic IVC clamping. Supra-hepatic IVC clamping for IVC thrombectomy has been demonstrated before, only from center in China.
Second video show clipping of multiple short hepatic veins during Infra-hepatic IVC control. Smallest mistake can lead to bleeding converting the procedure open.
Prolonged operative time and multiple changes in position may be considered a limitation. Newer robotic systems in the horizon and increasing experience with advanced robotic surgeries would enable us to circumvent this problem.
