Parotidectomy by Robotic Infraclavicular Approach (PRIA) is a minimally invasive technique for removing parotid gland tumors using the Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System. The procedure begins with the patient in a supine position, neck extended and head rotated. Four small incisions are made below the clavicle for robotic and assistant ports, creating a working space insufflated with CO2. The robot is docked, and instruments are inserted for precise dissection.
The subplatysmal flap is raised to expose the parotid gland, with careful identification and preservation of the facial nerve. Tumors in both superficial and deep lobes are meticulously dissected. The excised tissue is extracted through the camera port, and a drain is placed to manage postoperative fluid. This approach provides excellent cosmetic results with hidden scars below the collarbone and minimal postoperative complications, making it a promising alternative to traditional open parotidectomy. - Otolaryngological surgery (Head & Neck)
