- Neck dissection is an integral part of the management of head and neck cancer. With the advent of Robotics in head and neck oncology, transoral robotic surgery and thyroidectomies have already gained popularity. Robotic assisted neck dissection is still not accepted globally due to multiple concerns. Here, we are presenting a new technique which we are routinely practicing with favourable outcome. In our technique, we have used 4 ports i.e 1 camera port and 3 working arm. Port 1 is 1.5cm incision given 1 cm posterior to anterior axillary line, Port 2 & 3 is in relation to NAC and port 4 is contralateral to anterior axillary line. We have done more than 150 cases of neck dissection with this technique with no significant drawbacks. We have acheived comparable oncological outcomes and better functional outcomes. Few concerning factors which we have encountered are the cost of surgery, longer duration of surgery and robotic surgical expertise of the surgeon. Apart from these factors, we would highly recommend RABIND as an alternative technique for selected cases.
