Entry Guidelines and Requirements
Definitions
- Producer info – person who is submitting entry
- Presenting Surgeon – person who will be presenting this entry, in case it is selected for presentation at medical conference
- Prize winner – person who will receive the cash prize in case the entry is selected by judging process
- Submission items to upload include entry video, abstract, and photo of presenting surgeon
- “Submission” refers to the video entry
Requirements
- Entry Video
- First image should include the following, prior to submission entry:
- An opening title, not to exceed eight (8) words.
- Note: You may add a longer title/subtitle to your abstract which can more fully describe your work
- Presenting Surgeon’s name and title
- Practicing institution name, city, country
- Second image declaring any conflict of interest
- Closing image summarizing data, outcomes and number of cases discussed in submission
- File name MUST include short title and producer name example: “Robotic Partial Nephrectomy- M.Bhandari,” NOT: “KS Award video,” or similar
- An opening title, not to exceed eight (8) words.
- Submissions which contain surgeon, institution names or logos throughout the presentation may be disqualified (if it looks like a commercial, it will be disqualified)
- Graphics and tables are encouraged in the video entry
- First image should include the following, prior to submission entry:
- Abstracts
- Word count: not to exceed 250 words as a PDF, including:
- Title of abstract
- The title should clearly define the topic and contain no abbreviations
- Titles must be in sentence case and not bolded, underlined, italicized, or written in all caps or lowercase letters
- If title requires more than eight (8) words, a subtitle can be added in the abstract
- Absence of the previous requirements will result in disqualification

- Methods
- Results
- Conclusions
- Title of abstract
- Graphics and tables do not count towards the word limit in the abstract, but should be reserved for use in video entry
- All abstracts must be in English
- Photo of presenting surgeon
- Word count: not to exceed 250 words as a PDF, including:
Preferences
- Data showing improved patient outcomes and/or probability of becoming standard of care
- Complex surgical procedures
- Surgical innovations
- Use of new technology
- Case series with well-analyzed outcomes data
- High-quality animations and graphics to describe the content of submission
Technical Requirements of the Submission
- Only high-definition videos will qualify for submission: 1280 X 720 (720p) or 1920 X 1080 (1080p,1080i)
- Image quality should be suitable for large auditorium screening
- Only .mov or .mp4/.m4v formats will be accepted
- Length of submission should be a minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of eight (8) minutes
- Videos outside this duration will not qualify for submission
- Voice-overs
- Narrated in English language only
- High-quality audio recording (no echoes, low volumes, etc.)
- No music
- Computer-generated narrations will not qualify for submission
- Visuals and Narration
- Allow sufficient time for the viewer to recognize anatomy and understand the procedure clearly
- Rushed content will not qualify for submission
- One or two second shots are not recommended
