Definitions

  1. Primary Contact – person who is submitting entry and will receive and respond to information 
  2. Presenting Author – person who will be make podium presentation if entry is selected at Vattikuti Innovation in Medicine Summit 
  3. Award Recipient – person who will receive the cash prize in case the entry is selected by judging process
  4. Submission items to upload: entry video, abstract, raw footage and photo of presenting author
  5. Submission” refers to the video entry

 

Requirements

  • Entry Video
    • First image should include the following, prior to submission entry:
      • An opening title, not to exceed eight (8) words.
        • Note: A longer title/subtitle may be added to the abstract which can more fully describe the work
      • Presenting Author's name and title
      • Presenting Author's institution name, city, country
      • Second image declaring any conflict of interest
      • Closing image summarizing data, outcomes and number of cases discussed in submission
      • File name MUST include short title and primary contact name. Example: “Robotic Partial Nephrectomy- M.Bhandari,” NOT: “KS Award video,” or similar
    • Submissions which contain presenting author's name, institution name or logo throughout the presentation may be disqualified (if it looks like a commercial, it will be disqualified)
    • Graphics and tables are encouraged in the video entry
  • Abstracts
    • Video title, Presenting Author's name, institution and email must be included within the Abstract copy accompanying the video (this will not be included in word count).
    • Word count: not to exceed 250 words as a PDF, including:
      • Title of abstract
        • The title should clearly define the topic and contain no abbreviations
        • Titles must be in sentence case and not bolded, underlined, italicized, or written in all caps or lowercase letters
        • If title requires more than eight (8) words, a subtitle can be added in the abstract
        • Absence of the previous requirements will result in disqualification

      • Conclusions 
    • Graphics and tables do not count towards the word limit in the abstract, but should be reserved for use in video entry
    • All abstracts must be in English
  • Raw footage (3-5 minutes) 
  • Photo of presenting author

 

Preferences

  • Data showing improved patient outcomes and/or probability of becoming standard of care 
  • Complex surgical procedures
  • Surgical innovations
  • Use of new technology
  • Case series with well-analyzed outcomes data
  • High-quality animations and graphics to describe the content of submission
  • Complications incurred during surgery, with detailed explaination of solution

 

Technical Requirements of the Submission

  • Only high-definition videos will qualify for submission: 1280 X 720 (720p) or 1920 X 1080 (1080p,1080i)
  • Image quality should be suitable for large auditorium screening
  • Only .mov or .mp4/.m4v formats will be accepted
  • Length of submission
    • Minimum of five (5) minutes and a maximum of eight (8) minutes
    • Videos outside this duration will not qualify for submission
  • Voice-overs
    • Narrated in English language only
    • High-quality audio recording (no echoes, low volumes, etc.)
    • No music
    • Computer-generated narrations will not qualify for submission
  • Visuals and Narration
    • Allow sufficient time for the viewer to recognize anatomy and understand the procedure clearly
    • Rushed content will not qualify for submission
    • One- or two-second shots are not recommended
